LIGA - The Flying Doctors of Mercy
Canyon Travel is honored to assist this philanthropic volunteer organization of medical and health
professionals donating their services to the very poor in Mexico. They currently operate 4 clinics
in Sinaloa, including El Fuerte, arriving in private planes at their own expense. In just one weekend
in Nov./03, over 100 volunteers preformed over 50 cataract surgeries, general surgeons did over a
dozen surgeries, dentists provided services to over 100 patients, they fitted 56 hearing aids and
tested and made molds for 60 more and they provided general medical services to over 600 other
patients. They helped in establishing several self supporting medical, agricultural and industrial
schools and were instrumental in establishing the Univ. of Montemorelos' School of Medicine, School
of Nutrition, School of Dental Technology and the Dental Residency Program. Canyon Travel pledges
continuing support to the organization and complimentary lodging and services to the members whenever
vacancies are available. Bravo to The Flying Doctors of Mercy!
